Holly + Tom - Gote Farm, East Sussex

EastSussexWeddingPhotographer

A gorgeous wedding at Southover Grange, Lewes and then on to Gote Farm in Ringmer, East Sussex.

Holly + Tom tied the knot at Southover Grange in Lewes on a wonderfully warm day in July. It did not promise great sunshine but sunshine we got! I joined Holly beforehand with some of her closest friends and family in a very quaint (and beautifully designed!) air bnb in Lewes to get ready, before heading off to the ceremony in a friends Jag. The ceremony was full of joy whilst still feeling intimate and personal and the confetti line afterwards was an absolutely perfect way to welcome the new married couple! We did a few photos in the gardens at Southover because they are just too beautiful to miss! The patch of wild flowers that are growing around the back of the gardens are well worth a visit and made for the perfect setting for some relaxed portraits.

We then went on to Gote Farm where trays upon trays of Aperol Spritz greeted us, whilst sipping we listened to a few speeches from Holly’s closest friends and then headed in for food and more speeches! Not a dry eye in the room after Holly’s sister delivered a beautiful speech before a lot of shots and a lot of dancing! Oh and some semi golden hour portraits, too!

It was a total pleasure to spend the day with Holly, Tom and all their friends and family. I had an utter blast and really loved Gote Farm as a venue, too. If you are reading this because you have stumbled across this blog whilst looking for a venue then I would recommend Gote Farm no end. The barn itself is stunning and the views out the back at just so perfect.

Here’s what Holly + Tom had to say -

Tell me about how you met, in as little or as much detail as you like…

We met in Benicassim festival in Spain in 2011, Tom was there with Ross & Josh and I was with Nikki & Kels. We all became fast friends and hang out for the whole festival. We all kept in touch and over the summer Tom & I started dating... and the rest is history!

Tom proposed in Paris on my birthday. It was in the morning in our AirBnB. He went out to get some breakfast, came back, and told me I needed to close my eyes to he could give me my presents, next thing I know he's on one knee saying 'will you marry me' with a ring and I have never been so surprised in my whole life! Certainly did not see that coming!

What made you choose your wedding venue / location?

It's a barn in the village where I (Holly) grew up and is a blank canvas so gives us the freedom to have the day exactly how we want and a big (hopefully) party with all the people we love.

If you could impart any words of wisdom to a couple planning their marriage and wedding day, what would they be and is there anything you would do differently?

For us it's just been about enjoying the process, not getting stressed, and thinking about it as a special party with all our friends and loved ones.

Hopefully there isn't a global pandemic in the middle of yours.

What made you choose me as your photographer?

Because you are lovely and we love the style of your photos!
