The Pilgrims Rest - Battle, East Sussex

The Pilgrims Rest, Battle, East Sussex is a 600 year old Wealden Hall House nestled in the beautiful historic town of Battle. There is a reason it is one of my favourite wedding venues in Sussex and it isn’t just because of the ancient witch’s marks to ward off evil spirits or the secret tunnel that leads to The Abbey… but that helps. From a photographer's perspective, the direct light you get from the smaller ancient windows that come into the prep rooms is my absolute dream to photograph in. The staircase in the ceremony room that can be covered in fairy lights and/or flowers is the perfect backdrop during your ceremony and the room where you can have your meal can be beautifully lit by candlelight which truly lends itself in the Winter months. A very short walk down a little track that runs alongside the venue can see the most beautiful golden light and it is perfect for your portraits, with the view of fields and trees.

It is the perfect venue for smaller or bigger weddings that dream of that quintessential English wedding, with the added bonus of super friendly and helpful staff, no corkage fees and no strict supplier demands!

I think you’ll be able to see from my selection of photos below that I try and hone in on that ‘dark and moody’ atmosphere that the venue so beautifully offers and I would love to be considered to photograph your day at The Pilgrims Rest. Better yet, not only am I an ‘official’ recommended supplier already, I am also offering 10% off my Full Shebang package if you book me for your wedding at The Pilgrims Rest!
