2022 Weddings

2022 - The year of travel!

I think it is quite easy when looking back over your year, to focus on the moments that are obviously memorable and let the ‘mundane’ moments fade away. I know for me in my personal life I always think about the holiday, or the big days out, and I have to make a real conscious effort of thinking about the nuances in our day to day life that actually mean so much more to me, and us as a family. So when culling for this years ‘Best Of’ wedding photos, I have really tried to focus in on ‘non specific’ moments. I have obviously included some of the bigger parts and some portraits, but I wanted the main focus to be the in between moments and show that deliberating for days over the colour of your napkins just doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things! There is so much joy to be had outside of the aesthetics of your decor and the golden hour portraits and I hope you can see that within this set of images.

A bit of a re-cap!

2022 saw me travelling all over the globe (well… Europe) and I couldn’t quite believe it at the start of the year when I was looking at my calendar. I wondered how on earth I would mange the childcare, the travelling solo, the ‘bringing my best self’ when sleep deprived from not sleeping in my own bed etc etc… But I can safely say I did it! I bloody did it! I don’t particularly enjoy travelling solo, I am a creature of comforts and talking to someone else when I can is definitely a huge comfort of mine. So, sitting for dinner on my own is certainly out of my comfort zone that’s for sure! However, I am all for forcing myself to feel some sort of discomfort all in the name of growth and growth is definitely a keyword for my 2022.

Iceland, The South of France, Amsterdam, Guernsey and a personal holiday in Croatia were all slotted in to my year between many Sussex, Kent, Essex and London weddings. It was a total privilege to be asked to them all and I have loved every single second. Childcare plans seemed to just work (Thank you, oh thank you to Will’s Mum who has been our saviour!) travelling seemed to work, the airports were always on my side and I even did a little road trip in France with my Mum which meant driving on the wrong side of the road in the wrong side of a car for the first time! Get me.

My year ended a lot quieter than it started which has been a nice come down from such a manic Summer, but I have to say I am so very ready to get back to weddings in 2023 (I think I say that every year at this point!). Not so much travelling is on the table for next year, but that doesn’t take the shine away from a busy Summer in the UK and I cannot waitttt.

A huge thank you again to everyone who trusted me for another year, I still cannot believe this is my job and in 10 years it is still as exciting as it was at the beginning!

And just a little cheeky plug, if you have stumbled across me for the first time and are planning your wedding anywhere in the world then please do get in touch here! I would love to hear from you and chat about your day!

See you in 2023, folks!

P.S. This selection of images are in no particular order, and some weddings I have shot this year aren’t shown here due to various reasons. This is just a very narrowed down selection of those I am allowed to share!
