Lizzie + Josh’s wedding at The Farmhouse at Redcoats
I feel like I have shared so many of Lizzie and Josh’s portraits over on my Instagram but I felt it deserved its own blog post over here, too! Lizzie + Josh got married at The Farmhouse at Redcoats back in August 2021 and it was one of those perfect weather days. Overcast throughout the day so candid photos were a breeze and then the most gorgeous golden sunset in the evening for their portraits.
The actual barn itself is so beautiful and it has a real rustic feel about the whole venue, I would love to photograph more weddings at Redcoats as I imagine it is one of those venues where every wedding is totally different from the last!
I’ll hand you over to Lizzie + Josh and stop rambling -
Tell me about how you met, in as little or as much detail as you like. How long were you engaged before you got married? How did you propose?!
We met at University and started off as friends before making it official, and have been together nearly 12 years!
We got engaged November 2019 in Byron Bay Australia - we went back there on holiday, after living in Australia together for 2 years back in 2012 - 2014. Josh proposed on a beautiful beach. He set up a tripod to take an epic picture, but instead pressed record, and filmed the proposal... followed by many tears!
What made you choose your wedding venue / location?
It's very close to home... which we initially didn't want it to be, but as soon as we saw it and walked in the barn, we got goosebumps and teary eyed! It was just so beautiful! We could also occupy all 27 rooms of the venue/hotel, which was important to us to have our family stay all together (as my family aren't local)
If you could impart any words of wisdom to a couple planning their marriage and wedding day, what would they be and is there anything you would do differently?
Get organised early on and book all the main things as early as you can, then the rest will follow with ease.
Don't involve family!... haha, joking. To be fair, I took on nearly all of the decision making myself, i just knew what i liked, and went with it. I've been super relaxed in the organisation and decision making! But when family is involved, so many personal opinions come up and make you question your plans! Don't overwhelm yourself with too many different options. If you like something, go with it, keep it simple & enjoy the process.
What made you choose me as your photographer?
A recommendation! You photographed the wedding of someone from work, and the pictures looked beautiful! They are dramatic, colorful, yet casual and happy. Me and Josh are not posey people, so someone who captured moments and not staged them was a seller for us...
It was a total pleasure to photograph this day, as I am sure you can see from their gallery! 🖤
