Beth + Sam - A gorgeous East Sussex woodland wedding
A woodland wedding in the heart of the East Sussex countryside.
Just when you think the Summer is drawing to an end, a little pocket of sunshine comes out and joins us for a GORGEOUS late Summers wedding day for Beth and Sam. On September 14th, Beth and Sam joined forces. The whole day was packed with laughs, personal touches and more laughs. Oh and some laughs too.
We started the day in a tiny village in East Sussex where Beth + Sam live, along with Beth’s Mum just up the road too. I managed to go between the guys and the girls which always makes for some great story telling. I think it’s always a shame to miss out on one half of a couple getting ready so I do love it when I can cover both!
We then walked through the woods to where the ceremony was taking place. Beth’s step dad had made the most beautiful archway for them to get married under and everyone sat on wooden benches amongst the trees and the birds. It really was idyllic.
Once the ceremony finished we took a walk back through the woods, stopping for some group photos, and on to the village hall where the rest of the day was spent. The sun was setting perfectly in the field behind us so before it hid behind the trees we went out for a few portraits.
The speeches gave everyone ALL the emotions, from utter streams of tears to complete belly laughs. Beth’s Dad had asked friends and family who couldn’t make it to the wedding day to record a message, wishing them well. Coming from opposite ends of the world meant that not everyone could be there, so it was such a beautiful sentiment.
Wedding photographers can sense a few things, one of them being the vibe of the evening from the get go. It’s just a skill we have. I knew the second I walked into the house in the morning that the party in the evening would be epic. I was right. I didn’t want to leave, and it was one of those nights where I WISH i could have drunk the night away with everyone!
It was really was so very wonderful to be a part of Beth + Sam’s day, I wish them all the happiness in the universe!
And of course, a few words from the folk themselves….
Tell me about how you met…
Sam is from Australia and we met in a small mountain town called Rossland in Canada. We love to Mountain Bike in the summer and snowboard in the winter.
He proposed at the top of the ski hill, Red Mountain, in the summer of 2017 and now we’re getting married 2 years later!
What made you choose your wedding venue / location?
We love the outdoors and keeping things simple so having the ceremony in the woods and reception at the local village Hall was just perfect.
If you could impart any words of wisdom to a couple planning their marriage and wedding day, what would they be and is there anything you would do differently?
I wouldn’t do anything differently.
My words of wisdom - get as much sorted as early as you can so the week running up to the wedding is as chill and as fun as possible....don’t be scared to delegate especially if people have offered to help!
What made you choose me as your photographer?
I love your photos and you were HIGHLY recommended!!
THANKS SO MUCH GUYS! Xx
